Welcome to the 2nd Baltic Maritime Spatial Planning Forum 2016 23-24 November 2016, in Riga, Latvia. The Forum serves as a platform for discussions among those involved and affected by maritime spatial planning on how to develop and enhance MSP in the Baltic Sea basin.

Welcome to the 2nd Baltic Maritime Spatial Planning Forum 2016 23-24 November 2016, in Riga, Latvia

VASAB and the Baltic SCOPE project in cooperation with ICES organizes the 2nd Baltic MSP Forum – the biggest regional event of the institutions responsible for maritime spatial planning (MSP). The Forum serves as a platform for discussions among those involved and affected by maritime spatial planning on how to develop and enhance MSP in the Baltic Sea basin.

The Baltic MSP Forum is about bringing together practitioners and researchers interested in MSP, as well as policy makers and stakeholders involved in marine and coastal activities to see the whole picture of the MSP and create more effective ways for the cross-border cooperation. The themes of the Forum are relevant and interesting for MSP practitioners from other sea basins as well.

Building on the success of the first Baltic MSP Forum in 2014 it has now become a regular event – taking place once in two years. Thus, the next Forum is planned in 2018 in Germany.

The Forum organized by the VASAB serves also as the final conference of the EC DG MARE funded Baltic SCOPE project.

Please see draft agenda, the information regarding registration and Expo Lounge as well as practical information: www.balticscope.eu

The MODERATOR of the Forum will be Mr. Axel Wenblad, Senior advisor and independent MSP expert.

There will be many ways to engage at the Forum to share and build knowledge, exchange best practice and interact with others involved in MSP and marine issues allowing for comprehensive debates reflecting the voices of various stakeholders from different parts of the region and beyond and building upon the discussions of other MSP meetings, fora and organisations.

Participation in the Forum is free of charge.
