Auramarine
Booth No. 4H18

Auramarine, is a Finnish company and the leading provider of fuel supply systems for the marine and power industries. The company has delivered over 14,500 auxiliary units globally for the past forty years. Auramarine provides expert consultancy and guidance on the safe and efficient supply of fuel and has pioneered the development and implementation of world-class fuel changeover systems and operations. The company works in close partnership with shipowners to ensure that the fuel supply systems are high quality, fit for purpose and offer reassurance to shipowners and operators that the operational integrity of their vessel, and therefore profitability, will be maintained.

The impending introduction of the global 0.5% sulphur cap in 2020 represents arguably the most profound regulatory change in the industry since shipping bunker fuel converted from coal to fuel oil many decades ago. We are aware of the immediate demands of the 2020 regulation, and the company’s focus is on delivering customized fuel supply solutions to manage the significant increase in the use of low sulphur fuels, the properties of which differ from fuels such as Heavy Fuel Oil. Preparation is the key in the run up to 2020 and it is crucial for ship owners to work with knowledgeable experts who understand how to best mitigate risks and minimize downtime, and unexpected costs and delays. Auramarine works with ship owners, shipyards and engine manufacturers to thoroughly evaluate the needs of each individual vessel, understand the exact requirement and set in place an efficient and effective fuel supply system or system modification on agreed schedule. Our commitment continues with dependable, global lifecycle support services.

Norsepower Oy Ltd
Booth No. 4I21

Norsepower Oy Ltd is a Finnish clean technology and engineering company pioneering modern auxiliary wind propulsion for the global maritime industry. Its award-winning Rotor Sail Solution technology is a proven, low-maintenance, easy to use, and reliable fuel-saving technology, supporting the decarbonization of the shipping industry.

Norsepower Rotor Sails are modernized version of Flettner Rotors. The Rotor Sail Solution is around ten times more efficient than a conventional sail, as more lift is produced with a much smaller sail area. Due to its simplicity, it requires no reefing or crew attention when in operation. It is a “push button wind propulsion” from the bridge. It allows the main engines to be throttled back, saving fuel and emissions while providing the power needed to maintain speed and voyage time.

Rotor Sail technology is currently installed on three vessels (Bore’s M/V Estraden, Viking Line’s M/S Viking Grace, and Maersk Tankers’ Maersk Pelican) and has achieved over 45 000 hours in operation, saving more than 5000 tons of CO2 in the process. The solution has delivered independently verified fuel savings with the potential of up to 20% of average fuel consumption when the ship sails in favorable wind conditions.

Norsepower recent order for one Rotor Sail of the size 30×5 will be installed on Scandlines hybrid ferry M/V Copenhagen operating between Rostock in Germany and Gedser in Denmark.
Another recent achievement is related to VLCC LNG-fueled marine transportation. Two of the world’s leading large shipbuilders, SHI (Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard) and HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries), have been presented with approvals in principle (AiP) for VLCC designs with Norsepower Rotor Sail technology by LR.

Rotor Sail technology is well suited to many ship types such as tankers, bulkers, cargo vessels, Ro-Ro, RoPax ferries and cruise ships. It can be part of the newbuilding project or retrofitted to the existing ship without any off-hire costs.

Norsepower Rotor Sail solution is among the 100 solution providers with a potentially high impact on avoided CO2 emissions, presented by the 1.5C Compatible Solutions Framework at Mission Innovation Ministerial meeting in Vancouver in May 2019.
