A new 92 metre long ferry built for the Canadian operator Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ), and fitted with a broad scope of Wärtsilä solutions, has been delivered. The final commissioning of the vessel took place at the Chantier Davie Canada shipyard in June 2018.

In a follow up to their January announcement, A.P. Moller – Maersk and IBM  announced the creation of TradeLens, jointly developed by the two companies to apply blockchain to the world’s global supply chain. TradeLens is the result of a collaboration agreement between Maersk and IBM, a blockchain-enabled shipping solution designed to promote more efficient and secure global trade, bringing together various parties to support information sharing and transparency, and spur industry-wide innovation.

The technology group Wärtsilä announces that its Aquarius UV Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) has successfully completed all testing procedures required for United States Coastguard (USCG) type approval compliance. The documentation for full USCG type approval is being finalised for submission and awaits only final input from DNV-GL, the USCG approved independent laboratory.
