Jose Miranda Formigli, the former upstream director of Brazilian state oil giant Petrobras, has been given a spot on the board of Aker Solutions.
Formigli, who currently runs his own company called Forsea Engenharia, has been appointed to the innovation board as an adviser on overall strategy for the Norwegian contractor.
Last month the 55-year-old industry veteran was also appointed to the board of Energy Ventures.
Formigli joined Petrobras in 1983 as an engineer and rose to upstream director in 2012. However, he resigned along with a raft of other senior personnel – including then chief executive Maria das Gracas Foster – earlier this year as the company became engulfed in a huge historical corruption scandal and it faced massive writedowns.
”Jose is extremely capable and knowledgeable and will provide invaluable advice in guiding our technological and strategic direction,” said Aker Solutions chief executive Luis Araujo.
”We are delighted to have him join our team. His input as a former operator and strong track record in the offshore and deep-water market will be of immense value.”
